Maths - adding tens and ones to solve problems.
Helen Keller group worked very hard in maths today. They used part whole models and equipment to help solve problems by adding tens and ones.
Halloween day!
We had some very spooky celebrations on our Halloween day, we dressed up in Halloween costumes, played spooky games, carved pumpkins and had a Halloween themed craft afternoon!
We have really enjoyed our maths lessons this week!
On Friday morning we had a lesson in the food technology room baking shortbread biscuits, they tasted delicious!
We had a lovely time celebrating one of our birthdays, we ate yummy cake.
The Colour Monster
We have really enjoyed starting the year off with our new book, The Colour Monster. We have loved learning about the different emotions in the book and how those emotions make us feel. We created our own colour monsters and thought about what causes us to feel those emotions.
A Walk in the Park
Helen Keller group were amazed to come into class on Monday to find their classroom had been transformed into a park, for the launch of their new class text, A Walk in the Park by Anthony Browne. They became immersed in the language and the characters of the story through role play. They can't wait to read the book!

Helen Keller Class and Paul Whittaker Class (RP classes) have been learning all about how to write a letter. They were inspired by the story The Jolly Postman.

The children were curious about how a letter gets into a postperson’s sack and is delivered to a house. This led us to explore the 'journey of a letter,' so we set off to the Post Office with their envelopes ready to be posted. The children carefully placed their 2nd class stamps in the correct spot, and we found a postbox to send the letters.

Along the way, we met a postman and a post lady and enjoyed having our photograph taken with them.

When we returned to school, we predicted where the letter would go after being posted in the red postbox. To deepen our understanding, we completed a sequencing activity on the journey of a letter.

We can’t wait to see it land on our doorstep soon! (March 2025)
